I am a Chilean environmental scientist with a PhD in Marine and Atmospheric Sciences and a background in Marine Biology. Throughout my career, I have been motivated by a simple scientific question: How do marine ecosystems respond to natural and anthropogenic environmental change? This question has guided my research across benthic ecology, sediment biogeochemistry, contaminant dynamics, environmental monitoring, aquaculture, and marine renewable energy. Rather than representing distinct research areas, these topics provide complementary perspectives for understanding the functioning and resilience of marine ecosystems.

My scientific journey has taken me through Chile, Germany, Denmark, Canada, and the United States, where I have collaborated with researchers from diverse disciplines and contributed to projects ranging from fundamental ecological research to industry-supported environmental studies. These experiences have shaped an interdisciplinary perspective that combines ecology, chemistry, physics, and quantitative environmental science to address real-world environmental challenges.

Outside of research, I enjoy running, historical fencing (with a particular interest in the Italian school, Teatro Nicolò Giganti, and the Spanish tradition of La Verdadera Destreza), reading— particularly history, philosophy, and literature, with authors such as Rudyard Kipling and Albert Pike—and, above all, spending time hiking and camping with my family.
